Six weeks to a defensible AI plan for your practice.
Strategy, positioning and feasibility work for finance practices, and the assessment that opens most engagements: a map of where preparation is eating judgment, what it costs, and what to install first. Diagnosis in your own unit economics, not a demonstration of software.
Four kinds of question, answered in writing
Strategy and positioning
Research and positioning for a finance practice moving up the advisory ladder: which services to lead with, for whom, and how the firm should describe them without sounding like a software vendor.
Feasibility
Whether an initiative pays for itself, worked through before anything is built. Volume, time, labor, leakage, risk, systems, exceptions and the outcome that matters to the buyer.
The Workflow & AI Control Assessment
Two to three weeks inside one practice. The standard entry point.
- Workflow map with baseline measures
- The top automation cases, ranked by value and risk
- Data and risk classification for each
- Integration architecture against the systems you already run
- A ninety-day roadmap and a governance checklist
Roadmaps that survive contact
Sequencing, a named owner per workflow, what stays human, and the review cadence. A roadmap nobody can run is a document, not a plan.
Three kinds of value, kept apart
Every saved hour is not a dollar. The assessment separates the three and says which one each recommendation produces.
Capacity released, hard savings, revenue influence
Recoverable hours at loaded cost, avoidable headcount, incremental margin and risk-adjusted rework are reported as separate lines. Nothing is netted into a single headline number.
What we will not count
Speculative revenue, hours the firm would not actually redeploy, and any outcome that depends on a regulator, a lender or a market. If it cannot be measured in your own statements, it is not in the case.
Listen, measure, decide
The assessment is a diagnosis. It ends with a written document you could hand to a partner who was not in the room.
- 01
Listen
Interviews with the people who do the work, samples of the real documents they touch, and the volumes and cycle times nobody has written down.
- 02
Measure
A baseline: minutes per step, wait time between steps, who does the work and what it costs, where deals, clients and scope are lost.
- 03
Decide
The written assessment: ranked cases, the controls each one needs, the integration path, and a fixed-scope next step. The fee for the assessment is credited to whatever is signed next.
We design controls, draft policy and map regulatory exposure so your counsel and your accountants can do their work faster. We do not give legal, tax or compliance opinions, and anything that interprets a regulation carries their name, not ours.
What partners ask before an assessment
Do we need an assessment before training?
No. Most firms start with a training day and book the assessment once the team can see the workflows worth mapping. Either order works; the assessment is where the roadmap comes from.
How is this different from a vendor demo?
A demo shows you a tool doing something. The assessment measures your own workflow and tells you which three places to change first, and whether a tool is even the answer. Often the first fix is a checklist and an owner.
Who is in the room?
The people who do the work, not only the people who manage it. A close mapped from the controller's description and a close mapped from the bookkeeper's screen are different closes.
What do we get at the end?
A written document: the workflow map, the baseline, the ranked cases with their risk classification, the integration path, the ninety-day roadmap and the governance checklist. Yours to keep whether or not you continue with us.
Do you build what you recommend?
Where the recommendation is training, agents, automation, governance or a custom build, yes, under a separate fixed-scope proposal. Where the recommendation is software you should simply buy, we say so.
Start with a workflow review
