Software built around how your firm actually works
For the specific, high-value workflow no vendor has solved for your practice. We build the workbench, the automation and the agents around it, integrate the result with the systems you already run, and maintain it. Built only where a repeated workflow has earned it, so you get software shaped to your work instead of a subscription shaped to everyone's.
We only build where a custom build can defend itself
A custom build beats funded software in exactly three situations. Every build we take on satisfies at least one.
It runs on your own history
Your bind and decline history, your client book, your close data, your referral outcomes. A vendor cannot replicate data only your firm has.
It is specific to your counterparties
Your lender panel, your carriers, your covenants, your state's rules. Mass-market software cannot afford that variation; a bespoke build is made of it.
It bridges systems vendors will not connect
When neither vendor has an incentive to make the other's product better, the bridge has to be built for you.
Examples we build
Each one started as a repeated workflow inside a client engagement.
- Borrower intake and credit operations workbench for a nonbank lender
- Client finance operations control tower for an advisory practice
- Lender reporting and covenant pack generator for acquired companies
- Portfolio KPI layer across a sponsor's companies
You are buying the work, not the seats
Foundation Capital's framing for this is service as a software: with software you buy a tool and remain responsible for the outcome; with a service the responsibility for the outcome sits with the firm selling it. What we build sits on the service side of that line, a system that does the work rather than a license that lets you do it.
Agentic systems, built for one firm
Agents that run a process specific to your practice, with the review workflow and the audit trail built in rather than bolted on afterwards.
Automation as the plumbing
Deterministic workflows underneath, doing the same thing every time and failing loudly when they break, with agents on top only where a task requires reading, reasoning or drafting.
Integrated with the incumbent
We wrap around the practice-management, loan origination or accounting platform you already run. Replacing it is a project you did not ask for.
Owned by you, maintained by us
Your configuration, templates and data are yours outright, and the application is licensed to you permanently. What we keep is the reusable core, listed in a schedule so the boundary is never a surprise.
Discovery, build, hypercare
Fixed scope, milestone-based, with a recorded walkthrough at each handoff.
- 01
Discovery
One to two weeks producing a written specification, a data-flow map, integration feasibility and a fixed-scope proposal, credited to the build.
- 02
Build
Two to eight weeks, milestone by milestone. You see working software at each checkpoint, not a status deck.
- 03
Hypercare
Thirty days of tuning after go-live, then hosting, maintenance and minor enhancements under one predictable agreement.
Every document product carries per-field confidence, page-and-line source grounding, completeness reconciliation, unreadable-page flagging and an immutable audit log. A person verifies before anything relies on it, and no decision field is ever written by a model.
What buyers ask before discovery
Why not buy off-the-shelf?
Where off-the-shelf wins, we tell you to buy it, and we integrate with it. We only propose a build where one of the three conditions above holds.
Who owns the software?
You own your configuration, templates and data outright, with a perpetual license to the whole application. The reusable core stays ours; it is listed in a schedule, and anything not listed belongs to you.
Which systems do you integrate with?
The ones you already run: practice management, loan origination, document stores, accounting platforms, data feeds, phone systems. Integrating with the incumbent is the design rule.
Do you build products?
Only after the same workflow has repeated across enough firms that manual delivery is obviously the bottleneck. Custom work is meant to generate reusable components, schemas and evaluation sets, not a product roadmap on day one.
How do we know it will keep working?
Hosting, monitoring and maintenance are part of the ongoing agreement, and every build hands you an exportable audit trail and your data on request.
